When you buy a flute from us, I would also like you to know that you will be given an opportunity to give a $5 donation to help build a home for kids that were rescued from a garbage dump in Nicaragua. With this effort you will be changing a life. You can see the progress of the construction at www.flutemakerMinistries.org. Profound thanks!
After 40 years of flutemaking, I have had the privilege of recording 5 Cds. You can hear a sample of my Bamboo music here.
We have a Kid's section called the Kid's Corner with bird whistles, bird flutes and Kid's bamboo flutes in Major and Minor scales.
Also great for the beginner and the well trained performer, is the Irish Penny Whistle. It was the penny whistle that played the themes in Braveheart, Titanic and Lord of the Rings. The Penny Whistle came over to America on the early ships from Europe. The next great Penny Whistle invasion was the River Dance. We make wood and bamboo penny whistles the wood are in the keys of C and D and the concert tuned Bamboo Whistles are in the keys of A and Bb.
I have been making Bamboo Saxophones for 25 years. They are so cool and come in Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Baritone. Some come out professionally tuned in the keys of D, Bb, G and F. more here
Our Pan Pipes are in Major and Pentatonic scales. The Pan Flute in the Major scale is good to copy tunes. The Pan Pipe in the Pentatonic scale is fun, easy and creative, the Karate Kid sound.
MyHow To Video and DVD is a great tool to get you going. Some folks get "Bamboo Sax 101 and the Art of Bamboo Flute Playing" to decide which flute or sax they might want. With three and a half decades of flute making and playing I am pleased to share my secrets on bamboo instruments with everyone. Follow along on a sub tropical bamboo harvest and visit the flute makers' shop. Enjoy the zany spiel and the story of my beginnings. This video covers the fundamentals to enhance your enjoyment of these bamboo instruments.
After tooting for so long, I was able to compose 5 CD's of my bamboo flute music. Three are presently available. It is World Music, using 15 bamboo flutes and bamboo saxes. Nice mood music.
My flute journey began when I gave away my best flute to a beggar. Right after that God gave me a Flutemaking career. more here
I have had the joy of making Bamboo Flutes for 39 years and have handmade over 150,000 wind instruments. It has been an adventure making bamboo flutes in Mexico, Guatemala, Argentina, Brazil, Hawaii, Costa Rica and Fiji.
I settled in Florida partially due to the great long bamboo for well tuned flutes. And because someone had turned me on to a cold cabin in snowy Woodstock, New York. They had told me to make a fire in the Wood Stove, but I was a hippie from New York City who had just returned from traveling 2 1/2 years in Latin America and could not figure out how someone could make a fire in a "wood" stove. If the stove was wood it would burn the cabin down. It was a painfully cold night. So I went to South Florida to thaw out. It not only reminded me of warm Brazil but I found great bamboo for flutes and became a Floridian.
In my flutemaking career I have had the privilege to play my flutes for the President of Fiji, play on national and international television broadcasts and in churches and prisons around the world.
Thanks for coming into my Bamboo Flute world, you are about to embark on a musical journey. There are links to our bamboo flutes, exotic wood penny whistles, bamboo saxes and pan pipes above and to the left and in this text.
I thank God for making bamboo hollow!
Without that, I am a ruined man.
