Not only a flute not only a staff, it's a Stafflutie!

Since 1970 I have been building walking sticks that can play.

Started with the soft cane in Guatemala and continued with a 3 flute staff sold at the renaissance faires in the 1980's and 90's.
Lately, due to the interest from a recent movie I have been making an Oriental flute in the mid piece of a staff.
It is a side blown flute so you have to press and roll and pretend you are spitting out watermelon seeds from a relaxed grin to get a sound.
It is also a pentatonic scale and sounds rich, mellow and enchanting.
Inspired from an ancient Japanese flute called the Shaquhachi.

The Walking Flute is tuned by ear. I have made over 150,000 flutes in my 39 years of flutemaking.

It comes in 4 finishes. Natural, Dark and Carved, Starry night and the Dragon Skin.

I use a Florida Bamboo called Bambusa Multiplex it is not the straightest bamboo. It has some bending that I call character.
