Bamboo Saxes

The Soprano Sax

The Soprano Sax has the highest voice and is great for folks with small hands but large hands are fine too. If you want to play by yourself the $70.00 one is the one for you. If you want to play with others, I reccommend that you get the concert tuned one in D.You will be able to play in D major, E minor and in G. This one is called the Concert D. More here

The Alto Sax

Alto Sax good for all hands. Great Jazzy voice. This is the one most people buy.

If you want to play by yourself the $75.00 is the one for you. It is tuned with an electronic tuner in a major scale. You can play all kinds of songs in one full octave. Great for playing by yourself.

The Concert tuned one in Bb major will be the one to get if you want to play with others. Plays in Bb major, C minor and Eb pentatonic.. More here

Tenor Sax

Great rich voice. Deeper than the Alto and recommended for a larger hand span.

Regular: Tuned with an electronic tuner in a major scale. Can play all kinds of
songs in one full octave. Great for playing by yourself.

Concert tuned in G: Perfect pitch. Tuned electronically and comes out A440,  neat for playing with others in a band, a concert or recording. G major will play in G, A minor and overlap in C pentatonic.. More here

The Baritone

Deeper than the tenor, and nice for big hands, the Bari is rich in tone. I choose to use either a tenor mouthpiece or an alto mouthpiece and a tenor 1 1/2 reed in the construction of this instrument. Comes in Natural, Dark and Carved and Starry nights. If you want to play with others go for the concert tuned one in the key of F, which will also play in G minor. More here

What You Are Saying:

After seeing your beautiful instruments 10 years ago at a renaissance show in Florida and thinking about you all this time, I have finally found you again and I ordering one for my husband.

Hello good sir,
I  couldn't get over the authentic sound of your bamboo sax, so I ended up buying an alto...
I watched your how to video and tried it out. ...It was very amusing. After trying it out for about an hour, I decided to take a break. Unfortunately the break didn't end.
That is, until yesterday... I sat down with my guitar to write a song for my wife. ... I layed down a couple guitar tracks and then pulled out my alto. Remember, I haven't touched it since the day I bought it which was about two months ago.
Anyway, I just wanted to thank you. My wife loved the song...
I have attached the audio for you to hear. I am very proud of this. Your instructions and explainations made it extremely easy to learn. I felt like I actually know what I'm doing.
Thanks again,
"Bluesman" Scottie Aldrich, Howell, Mi     12,Sep.2006

Within 30 minutes my 14 yr old son went from a squeaking kid to a real player.  And over the week, he has only gotten better.  His jazz teacher will be letting him use it in jazz ensemble for some songs next year.
There are plans for the bamboo sax to go on a remote hiking trip this summer, to summer camp and on a road trip - wonderfully portable. Many many thanks!

I've been on the road with Cirque du Soleil for 4 years now. I'm always looking for various sounds that are within reach of my technique. The instruments must be easy to play, well toned, durable and fine tuned. Erik's Bamboo Sax fits all those requirements at a reasonable price. His instruments are designed for those new to music,or to an old pro like me.

I'll start by saying thank you for your many years of hard work. It definitly shows. Your alto sax is by far the most enjoyable instrument that I have ever played. Awesome! Daniel Mason Oneonta, N.Y Sept. 28th 2005.

Erik, I am a studio musician and already own most of your saxes and want you to know I have used them in about 6 recording sessions in LA studios and in a recent film. I know others are making the bamboo sax as well but your intonation and craftsmanship are incomparable. Thanks and God Bless!

Erik,

Hi. My name is Barry Disch and I would love to tell you I have had so much fun from the sax that you sent me more than two years ago in Hawaii. Your sax since then has been to New Zealand, Australia, Korea and now China.

You may be getting an order of several saxes for the largest private school in Beijing.

Barry in China March 2003

Hi Erik,

I have to tell you I truly love your flutes.
About the same time I ordered my bamboo sax from you, I also ordered a xaphoon from Maui. There is no comparison. Your flute is beautifully made, while the other looks, well, very rustic. The tone from yours is deep and beautiful while the other is – not. The other does play a full two octaves as advertised, but the upper half of the upper register is almost useless without a great deal of practice – yours makes music almost all by itself.
It seems as though your flutes just come alive. As a middle age guy who always wanted to learn the flute and now has the time to do it, I can’t think why I’d ever buy a flute from anyone else again. I love your flutes and so do my kids!

God Bless, Sheen Fischer, California, March 22, 2005
